Born in Newfoundland, my family and I later travelled across Canada to Calgary in the early 80’s as my dad was in construction and out west was the place to be. As an Honour student in High School, I received a scholarship from the Calgary Board of Education for Career and Life Technology Studies as well as many other academic accolades. After graduation, I was accepted at Mount Royal College and studied Business Administration and Secretarial Arts.
While raising two children, I worked in various customer service and human resource positions, waiting for my ‘dream office job’ to present itself and to allow me to show my true talents. I was working in Calgary when I met my husband, Steve, and we moved to Lethbridge to start our new life together.
Since joining the Quintus family in June of 2008, I feel that I have finally found the position that I was always dreaming of.
I have been a resident of Southern Alberta most of my life and am extremely proud to call Coaldale my home. I began my career in the financial services industry with a Canadian Chartered Bank in 1976. In 1992 I began to focus on offering investment advice to individual Canadians. It is gratifying to help clients achieve their financial goals.
Over the years I have built my investment advice practice by working with a diversified clientele and I enjoy working with a team of like minded professionals at Quintus Financial. I embrace the mission statement and code of conduct that has been adopted by the firm; in particular I recognize the value of forging trust relationships with each client.
My many years experience in the financial services industry have been complemented with many courses through the Institute of Canadian Bankers, The Financial Planner Standards Council, the Canadian Securities Institute, and Advocis.
I am a family man with a loyal and devoted wife and have three grown children. The addition of three grandchildren has brought much joy to my life.
The tremendous support I receive from my family allows me to spend many hours giving back to my community in many different ways.
My name is Genny Hunter-Barr; I work alongside Malcom in addition to helping out with the day to day operations Quintus Financial.
I have lived in many places as a child since my father was in the Air Force. I finally settled in Southern Ontario as an adult with my husband, Glenn, and our two daughters. After many years of dealing with traffic and big cities we decided we wanted cleaner air and a better community to raise our daughters.
We had come to visit family in Lethbridge a couple of times and decided this was the place for us. We decided to move here in the summer of 2007.
I have been at Quintus Financial since the fall of 2008 and love the welcoming family atmosphere that is always present in the office and at our client events.

Their experience in this specialized area of expertise has helped numerous affluent clients with: business taxation, owner-manager taxation, estate and succession planning, corporate reorganizations, and family trusts. They also have a specialty dealing with complex cases for agriculture producers and for the oil and gas industry.
Malcom was raised in the small community of Barnwell, Alberta, with 6 brothers and sisters. Growing up, his family owned the one confectionery store in the community. Working with his father and mother there, he learned the value of a dollar, as the small store was the means of providing for their family. It taught him financial responsibility at a young age that has since added personal value to his ability to help clients effectively manage their finances.
Before his work in finances, Malcom worked with the Alberta Sport Council and the Olympic movement for ten years. In 1995 he became the Chair for the Lethbridge/Taber KidSport Society, where he led the fundraising to assist over 3300 kids with hundreds of thousands of dollars to participate in sports in his local area. He is a 18-year and current provincial board member for KidSport Alberta, which has raised over 14 million dollars and funded more than 71,000 kids. Malcom is also a board member of the Lethbridge Sport Council.
Previous to his service to the Alberta sport community, Malcom competed as a member of the Dixie College track team before graduating from Brigham Young University where he competed in Badminton and Hockey.
In 2015, he was awarded the 2015 Provincial Sport Volunteer Recognition Award for his work with KidSport at both the local and provincial levels.
